About Me

Hey!  Did you know that I actually pronounce my name "La- ren".  Not lor-en.  Yep. crazy.

I am just your (far from) average 27-28-year-old,  wait...I need to get this right... a now 30-year old girl living and loving in the Boston area.  I work as a school psychologist in the suburbs of the bean, and have seen my life and this blog go through a lot of changes since I began working on it in 2011. I started Go Lauren Go in order to help me raise money for Team and Training and my first marathon in San Diego.

After a two-year hiatus, I remembered how much I loved being a part of the blogging world, so I decided to make a comeback (golf claps, from the 5 people who read the blog). I want to continue working on the blog because I loved how connected I was to the fitness community and I find myself staying much more committed to the cause when sharing it with the world.

Although always active and an avid gym rat, I took up running in the summer of 2010. I've improved my marathon time from 4:24:05 at the San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon in 2011 to a PR of 3:49:48 in October of 2012. After an IT band injury, I lost my running mojo but have been slowly making a comeback to one day qualify for the Boston Marathon. This dream may never come true, but its certainly worth a shot. Moreover, I've competed in 5 half marathons (PR: 1:48:19) and countless other races. I also coach middle school cross country and track...which doesn't mean I'm certified in anything but CPR/First Aid but at least I am leading by example! I love working with these kiddos on their fitness!

I have also been in the process of changing my diet to eat a little more mindfully and a little more cleanly. Mind you, its never fully clean and healthy, as I find that cocktails, pizza, and nachos continue to make me weak in the knees.  Most of the time I'm fine with this, because its all about the balance.  Other times, not so much and with this I hope to bring you the honesty in struggling to maintain my weight with getting older.

I love this city, having experienced it from Somerville to Southie and everywhere in between. I'm finally at a place in my life where I can take the time to run and still enjoy myself along the way.   I am also an avid music lover and fan, so you will notice that many of my posts are centered around the soundtrack of my life; one that is constantly changing.

Here, come take a look at some of my favorites!
