Tessie, you are my only only only

So yesterday, as you all know, was the Red Sox season opener.  If you are a big red sox follower, such as myself, you know that it did not go as planned.  However, it was nice to see Big Papi hit a homer so early in the season because over the last two years, his bat was looking a bit heavy.

I was able to enjoy the game from John Harvard's Brew House in Harvard Square, as I had an eye appointment that afternoon and asked Olivia and Sara to join me in celebrating the start of my favorite season of the year: baseball season.  Here was the lineup.

I started my evening with...drum roll please....a beer.  I never ever ever ever drink beer, but I was feeling a little, crazy, so I enjoyed some sort of Ale.  Of course I have no idea what I drank.  I think the word "Irish" was in it, but I can't remember if that's what Olivia ordered, or what I ordered.  Anyway.

Well lookey here, its Big Papi himself.

After consuming some spinach artichoke dip, that I obviously forgot to photograph because we ate it so quickly, I had a glass of Pinot Noir, my old favorite.

I dined on the veggie burger with fries, but didn't eat the bun.  This veggie burger was awesome, and it was topped with mozzarella, peppers, and mushrooms.  Yummooo.

After the game, I wandered home on the T and decided to go to bed early.  I'm talking super early...like I was laying in bed at 8 p.m.  Back in the day, that never would have flown, flued, flied, but I was so sick this week and needed to take care of my body.  Because I was sick, I also decided to take the entire week off from running so I could get both a mental and physical rest from all of the over committing I do.

I woke up the next morning at 6:45, made myself some toast with balade butter and a little strawberry cream cheese, topped it all off with chia seeds, and made a weird concoction of a whole banana cut up with some chocolate chips, one tablespoon of almond butter, chia seeds, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  I stretched a little at home and geared up for my 12 miler with my running team.

It was a BEAUTIFUL morning, after having such a terrible April Fools Joke played on us here in Boston...with the snow and everything...so it was nice that I could run in shorts and my underarmor....oh and my fuel belt.  Pretty sweet.  Well anyway, after a few stops with my running partners so they could fuel up, and a squeeze of my GU gel, we finished it in about 1 hour 46 minutes.

I admit that it was a tad slower than I normally like to go, but I wanted to run with people instead of going it alone.  Even though we ran downtown to the river, I still wanted to chat and know that my team was with me...especially after my ipod died.  I decided to wait at a water stop (where our team in training staff meets us to hand us water and gatorade) for the group to catch up (believe me they weren't far behind at all...they have really increased their pace time!) and ran the rest of the 6 miles with them.  Thank goodness I did, because it flew by!

I didn't take any pictures because I didn't want to be a weirdo, but I will definitely try to start incorporating them into my future workouts.

We got back to the Running Emporium in Southie, shoved some handfuls of gummy bears into my garbage disposal, then headed over to Cafe Arpeggio with three girls from my team to get smoothies.  I dined on a banana and pineapple smoothie.  Let me tell you, it really hit the spot.  OH YEA, most importantly, I didn't have to hit the bathroom after my run either!  THIS IS HUGE!  I have to thank the Chia seeds for keeping me hydrated throughout the week and in long runs.  They keep me full and hold onto water like its a life or death situation.

After taking a quick shower, I met up with Megan, Kristy, and a few other Southie-ites to hang out for brunch (I ate a bagel) and am now getting ready to head to ABG to watch the Final Four game with the same group.

This evening I will be heading over to Church, and yes that's a restaurant/club in Fenway, with Olivia, to watch her brother play in his band Coyote Kolb.  Listen to them here.  I can't wait, because I definitely like their music, and I've heard so much good stuff about Church.  I'm so excited!
